Have you wondered if you should be using your Facebook Profile or Business Page for your network marketing business?
People reach out to me asking this same question all the time.
First let’s break down the difference between a Facebook profile and a Facebook business page.
What’s the difference between a Facebook Profile and Business Page
Facebook Profile – A facebook profile is a place on Facebook where you can share information about yourself, such as your interests, photos, videos, current city and hometown. To see your profile, click or tap your name or profile picture at the top of Facebook.
Business Page – Business Pages are places on Facebook where artists, public figures, businesses, brands, organizations and nonprofits can connect with their fans or customers. When someone likes or follows a Page on Facebook, they can start seeing updates from that Page in their News Feed.
Do I “need” a Business Page to grow my network marketing business?
Most people who use Facebook to build their network marketing business use their Facebook profile. However, they shouldn’t be!
Unfortunately the way most people use Facebook to build their network marketing business is like a spammy infomercial. This is really annoying to people outside of their network marketing company.
The proper way to build your network marketing business using Facebook is to use a Facebook Page.
However, you don’t need one right away to get started building your network marketing business. (more on this later)

Facebook Profile or Business Page… What You Need To Know
- It’s against Facebook’s policies to use your Facebook profile for business or promotional purposes. I you do it anyway you Facebook could delete your account or put you in “Facebook jail” where they lock down your account.
- You can only have one Facebook profile tied to your name, but you can have an unlimited number of business pages associated with the account.
- Only one person can manage a Facebook profile, but multiple people can manage and contribute to a business page.
- You can schedule posts, see engagement and audience insights on a Facebook business page.
- You can run ads and get your message in front of you target market with a Facebook business page.
- You can setup automated messenger replies and utilize other Chatbot features with a business page.
Facebook Profile or Business Page… When NOT to Use A Facebook Page
If you’re just getting started building a network marketing business you do NOT need a Facebook business page!
Start with your Facebook profile until you’re earning $500 a month.
In this scenario you have enough new stuff you’re learning. You don’t need one more thing added to your plate. Instead focus on learning the basic skills of building a network marketing business.
As your business and your skills grow then building a Facebook business page is something you can explore.
Facebook Profile or Business Page… In Summary
Start building your network marketing business using your Facebook Profile but DO NOT Be A SPAMMY Infomercial!
What does that mean?
It means you need to learn to create content (posts & videos) that isn’t just about you selling all the time and instead your stuff adds value to other people.
The majority of your content that you create on both your Facebook profile and your business page should have nothing to do with your specific products or company.
Most of your “selling” and “recruiting” should be happening behind the scenes through private conversations.
This is called “curiosity marketing”.
Provide value. Create curiosity. Focus on Solving People’s Problems!
Once you’ve learned the skills and you’re making money with your business then you can get started with a Facebook Business Page and take your business to the next level.
