That was me back in 2005… I was sitting at my desk as an IT Engineer in Sioux Falls, South Dakota when the HR department handed out our estimated retirement information and I saw I had 38 more years until I could retire…
NO WAY! I knew I had to find something else. I had BIG life goals I had lost the desire to go to the top of the corporate ladder. Deep inside I was sick and tired of the corporate world… the lack of freedom and lack of financial control that comes with it.
Most people probably thought my life was pretty good. Good job, nice house, nice cars but I was NOT happy with the path my life was on. I wanted to live life with purpose, provide more for my family and do more with my family than the corporate world allowed.
Around this same time I read the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki (read it if you haven’t already). After reading that book I realized I was stuck in the “Rat Race” and my mind was completely opened up on what was possible outside of the corporate world.
Realestate was great until it broke me
In 2006 I started my first of three real estate businesses while still working in my corporate IT job. I had an aggressive business plan and it was working well which prompted me to start up two more real estate businesses.
I thought I was on my way out of the rat race so when a friend introduced to network marketing.
I wasn’t really interested in the business but I saw a product that I had to have and I wanted my parents taking. My hands were already full but I started sharing the product with people I cared about and I found the business to be a way to help people and it gave me a feeling of being able to fulfill my life’s purpose.
Everything was going great but a changing economy in 2010 (the great recession) and a few bad business decisions ended the run I was on for freedom though real estate. It kind of destroyed me in a lot of ways.
My life was a disaster. My self confidence was in the toilet, my self-worth had taken a beating. My income level tanked. Things were not good.
Bankruptcy?
I was on my way to the attorney’s office to file bankruptcy when my attorney called and said if we filed I’d lose all my residual income… I would lose all the future residual income I had created and everything I continued to create in the future until millions of real estate debt was paid off! F-that.
I decided I was not going to take the easy way out and instead I negotiated, I pleaded and I found a way to pay my debts back.
My Network Marketing journey…
God had a plan for me to dig a well before I was thirsty… that network marketing business I didn’t really have an interest in was now saving my butt!
I was one of the lucky ones and I had success right away with my network marketing business. My business grew fast until I had to take a step back from it when my real estate businesses started failing. That’s when I realized the true power in residual income. I wasn’t working my business but I was getting paid! So cool!
When I stepped away from my network marketing business and I wasn’t doing the daily activities my team stopped growing which also meant my income stopped growing. I still got paid month after month but our rapid growth came to a stand still. This is when I realized most people couldn’t do what I did… I wasn’t duplicatable. As a team we needed better duplication. We needed better systems!
Leaving My Job…
In January of 2015 I decided to quit my corporate job, finish my exit strategy the real estate businesses and really focus in on building my network marketing business.
I had a strong desire to become a top earner and leader in the network marketing profession and make an impact in the world but I had zero desire to continue to do everything myself. I was not about to call all my family and friends again. Do endless amounts of phone calls, presentations, trying to inspire my team and training people who didn’t do anything. I needed to figure out how to truly duplicate and create leverage.
So, I spent the next couple years learning and testing different online strategies and systems. I’ll be honest, learning the online side of marketing was NOT easy but it was so worth it!
Building A Team That Builds Teams Without Me…
Having a good mix of online and offline systems, processes and strategies really BOOSTED our team growth. Notice I said systems and not system. I was finally building a team that could build their own teams without me!
Most people are easily convinced they can build large teams with social media, funnels, blogging, YouTube videos and other methods but ultimately for most people it’s a recipe for failure. Most people can’t duplicate those things.
You need multiple systems, processes and a strategic vision to make your team operate like a franchise where you can plug anyone into it and they will develop the skills and mindset they need and have success.
Once you get the foundational systems in place then it’s all about generating leads and getting as many people as possible plugged into your systems on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. That’s how you win the game!

In my opinion…If you aren’t making someone else’s life better then you are wasting your time.I believe most people are living greatly below their potential.I believe people can change.I believe God gave me a gift and a purpose to help other people.I believe the decisions you are making right now are setting your course for your future and a lot of people need help with those decisions so they are on the right path.
